@bryan_caplan More proof that people who don’t work in the biomedical sciences have no idea how academic and industry research are very different but almost perfectly complementary—and one without the other leaves both unable to advance.
@FireantAI@ashishkjha He’s using global life expectancy. It was 32 at birth and 52 at age 5
In US, life expectancy at birth was 58.5 and at age 5 was 63.5
Yglesias: “I find conservatives’ overall relationship to the political process to be a little bit puzzling. It’s not that they all march in lockstep... But they seem very averse to engaging in specific debates about exactly what Republicans should be doing.
Ossoff: Last September, the President of Kazakhstan calls Donald Trump and says he wants to grant tungsten mining rights to an American company. And the very next month, Eric and Don Jr. get a stake in the American company pursuing the mining deal.
Six days later, six days after Prince Eric and Prince Don get their stake, Kazakhstan announces this company will get, “The largest known undeveloped tungsten resource in the world.” A few more weeks go by, and then the U.S. government, run by their father, sets aside 1.6 billion of your tax dollars to fund and finance their mining project. In Kazakhstan.
All this while you pay more for gas, for groceries, for health care, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Man I disagree so much.
I find jurors to be generally thoughtful and reasonable, trying really hard to follow their instructions.
Many times they are more conscientious than the judge.
And when they're wrong, it's usually the fault of the judge or the lawyers.
@MVPStu@ashishkjha Unless you can have evidence there’s ongoing chains of measles transmission from entries prior to January 2025 all the way to the hundreds of cases in the last six months (a ~0 probability scenario), you absolutely can’t blame measles on Biden and open borders at the same time
This is so insanely corrupt, I can’t even believe it.
More than half the donors to Trump’s $400 million White House ballroom just won over $50 billion in new federal contracts in six months.
And here’s the part that should make your blood boil.
Sixteen of these 27 donors were facing federal enforcement actions, antitrust reviews, labor cases, securities charges. Many of those cases have been quietly dropped or scaled back since Trump took office. You write a check, your legal problems disappear. That’s not a coincidence.
The White House won’t even release the full donor list. They’re hiding it on purpose, because daylight is the one thing pay-to-play can’t survive. A federal judge already ruled ballroom construction has to stop until Congress authorizes it.
Government is supposed to serve the people, not auction itself off to the highest bidder. When access goes to whoever pays the most, working families always end up paying the price.
We either end the corruption, or the corruption will end us.

@MVPStu@ashishkjha So you’re saying that the jump from 300 measles cases under Biden’s last two years to 4,300 cases in Trump’s first 16 months is because Trump has opened up the borders that Biden had efficiently closed in his last two years.
Good to know. We need to vote his party out.
@ronhunt@_johnbye There will be systematic errors and confounding. A study design of asking people, 5-6 years after pandemic and vaxx, if they had cancer or CV disease, then asking if they were vaccinated will most certainly have major confounding. No actual scientist would design a study that way
@RichardHanania They always have to put conflict in the title.
In the article the only quote from a bioethicist is this one, which is completely reasonable and completely in line with what the researchers themselves are cautioning:
@MichelleAnder20@efdavis419@AaronSiriSG That yahoo made a bunch of different ridiculous claims about the vaccine—including that “spike protein completely replaced sperm”—-all without any actual evidence
@thereal_truther@weldeiry There’s a reason for that. There are -8000 sarcoma cases diagnosed annually in 70+yo and we vaccinated 95% of them at least twice. Even if you consider only about 10% of those are in the upper arm, that’s about 16 cases per week, so yes this would happen even if you inject saline
@priceacarter@DMacWake316 I can’t argue with the points he makes but clearly Andy & co believe they can mostly fix problems on offense with better coaching, much better RB and attention to detail. This is going to be a litmus test to see how much Andy either adapts and innovates or fails with the Offense
@JamieAA_Again@modjaji Most people don’t like to broadcast their stupidity in large font but hey if you’re willing to make a fool of yourself for a few ElonBucks, well….
@MitchSchwartz71 Yeah but that’s not what he’s in trouble for.
He posted a video on YouTube of himself driving over 100 mph on the freeway near the stadium
