@rBillSimmonsPod Despite his whack take on Contact, he’s a beautiful man. That bit from the 2001 Rewatchables where he turns to Spielberg and hits him with the “Hey Steve, ya know they’re bringing 70mm back into theaters?” S-tier trolling. Finest podcast moment of 2026.
@VanLathan I lean Departed, but Heat has got some all-time highs. From “GREAT ASS!!” to that weird Brian Eno track that plays out right until the big shootout, which happens to be the greatest shootout sequence in cinema history. Fuck, maybe I am Team Heat! 😂😂
@m_millsey Nothing better than experiencing the remarkable self-own streak that Scott Jennings has been on lately. Easily the dumbest motherfucker currently on CNN.
@offbeatorbit Understandable in that context. On the flip side, I once heard from someone who worked on O Brother Where Art Thou and they said Goodman was the most fun to be around on set. Said he was an absolute blast. That warmed my heart.
@DrewMcWeeny That whole CinemaSins flavor of film “criticism” can go straight to hell. It’s just so soul-draining. It’s the mark to me of a bitter, small-minded person. After being online for nearly 30 years and enduring every toxic stripe of movie fandom imaginable, I’m just tired. *sigh*
@emkenobi Once again reminded that Jimmy Carter had to sell his whole goddamned fucking peanut farm when he became POTUS. Anything less than full-on Nuremberg level of accountability for these fucks would be treating multiple organ failure with a band-aid.
@Srirachachau I saw it yesterday and loved it. Obviously art is subjective, but man, some of these DD takes out here calling it the worst Spielberg film of all time, worst movie of the year, etc seem hyperbolic to me in a way that’s giving me flashbacks to Prometheus’s release in 2012.
@BillSimmons I knew this was one of those that was coming. Still hate it though. The Apostle is the one I consider his apex mountain in terms of the performance he gives. Not the best film he’s in, but the best he’s ever been in a film. Fare Thee Well, sir.
@DrewMcWeeny Caught it this afternoon and had a blast. I totally get the comparison Spielberg made to Dr. Strangelove. This is art perfectly reflecting our own era sliding down into authoritarianism the same way Kubrick did at the height of the Cold War. What a picture!
@offbeatorbit Sadly predictable though, was it not? WWE meets Nuremberg rally. That’s kinda the only two aesthetic choices the shitty YTs are aware of. And full disclosure, an uncle of mine flew to AZ to be a part of this shit. JFC 😵💫
@LqLana Dude could afford to lose about 100 pounds of stuffing and 500 years of hate. The crucial lesson that the unlearned YTs haven’t figured out yet is that they’re too poor to be overtly racist pieces of 💩 on camera out in public. God, are some of my fellow caucasians just dumb af.
