You should hire in-house and ditch the agency if your brand operates in chaos.
I've told plenty of brands exactly that. Not because I don't think we can do a better job than an in-house team. We can.
It's because the way some brands operate doesn't set any agency up to win. Lots of pivots, last minute changes, competing priorities, and creative preferences that are unclear or never written down.
If that sounds like your brand, hire in house. Because no matter how embedded an agency is (and we get very embedded) it'll be nearly impossible to set us up for success.
@stephenjhall Would rather work in a culture where you can speak freely and say whatever is needed and still record things for record keeping purposes.
Working theory: on a long enough timeline, human traffic to docs pages will go to zero.
If engineers aren't reviewing their own code anymore, there's no way in hell they are reading the docs either.
It's one of them, but there's a bunch of others that most people can't readily identify that are worse. Overuse of colons are a huge tell.
So is referring to the way forward, or a any type of change/movement as a "path"
Flimsy stances is another big one e.g. "Neither is optional, and neither substitutes for the other."
The biggest tell, for me, is that AI wants to prove what it is saying is meaningful and worth your time, so it often calls out what "matters" very directly. It hypes up its own argument.
The list goes on.
@FR3NCHL0AF Yes, it has, but many many companies are stressing over traffic from direct and organic diminishing to docs pages over time. Impossible to fight fate IMO.

JD + how to apply ๐
Growth Plays crossed a revenue milestone today that I never imagined we would hit when I first formed the business on a buddyโs couch, before I even had a place to call home or receive mail in LA:
$10 million in lifetime billings.
I started this outfit in 2017. It started slow, but things have picked up. There is now a kinetic energy inside the business that is fueling and funding our growth.
I told the team today that more than 50% of our total billings have come in the past two years. That is thanks to them and to the clients who have trusted us with their brands. Our goal is to keep that momentum going.
We are on a mission to become the best agency in B2B search, and we are just getting started.
@anothercohen Would never watch, but I do find working through really technical and dry material via a NotebookLM podcast can be very helpful. Zero need for AI zoomer video podcast about dry topics though.
@GeorgeGilmer Gilmer!!! Legit would not have gone done this path with out encouragement from people like you and Tim in the earliest of days. Thank you.
