There is simply no way to please a #Leafs fan. The club has bumbled and lost for so many decades, that all trust in the franchise is gone. John Chayka provides a perfect example. First he was a crook and an unqualified clod. Why? Because the media said so. Had he done little or nothing today, he’d have been hung in effigy. Instead, he overhauls much of an embarrassing, pathetic team - adding legitimate #StanleyCup pedigree - and the same people say “let’s wait and see.” The fear of failure among Leafs fans is surpassed only by the fear of success. It cannot be explained to traditional fan bases. Deep down; subliminally, I think #Toronto hockey zealots actually WANT the Leafs to stumble. They’ve been locked in a cycle of disappointment for so long, it’s easier to stay that way than to believe it can change. #LeafsForever
