One of the most important lessons of my happened in my early twenties.
I learned that that optimism and drive are extremely contagious. And so are complaining and negativity.
My eyes were opened to this when I moved to San Francisco after college in 2002.
I was surrounded by people who were more driven than I was, more curious than I was, and frankly, much more successful than I was.
And it was incredible.
I would walk into rooms where I was the least successful person there, listen to how people talked, watch how they carried themselves, and feel their energy.
I would walk out of those rooms ready to knock down walls, and it made me think bigger.
Because when you are around people building things, taking risks, pushing hard, and believing crazy things are possible, that energy gets into you.
The opposite is true too.
Complaining is contagious. Cynicism is contagious. And so are low standards.
That’s why who you spend time around matters so much.
You’re not just choosing friends.
You are choosing the energy you absorb - and choosing your life trajectory.
The world belongs to the people who never take no for an answer. The people who know they can bend reality through their force of will. The people who thrive through uncertainty. Those who believe they’re meant for more will usually prove themselves right.
You can get pretty damn far in life by just being someone people can count on to show up and do the work. Reliability is the cheat code. Stop overcomplicating success. Show up, do the work, repeat. That’s it.

We don’t care where you went to school or even whether you went to school or what “big name” company you worked at.
Just show us your code.
I don’t know what the root cause is, but some people are determined from a young age to make a ton of money.
Feels like many of them do.
Others just don’t seem to think about it too much. It’s just not part of their personality to become rich.
Feels like many of them don’t.
Almost every company I’m researching as a long term winner has 1 thing in common…
Texas…
Texas feels like what California was in the 80s and 90s…
Loved it there when I was stationed at Ft Sam and always considered moving there.
Any suggestions?
Maybe one day…
Try submitting x-ray, PET, MRI or other medical images to Grok for analysis.
This is still early stage, but it is already quite accurate and will become extremely good.
Let us know where Grok gets it right or needs work.
So, the formula:
-pick a business you'd do as a hobby
-study the business deeply
-be friendly and down-to-earth
-care about your employees
-open next location only when ready
-show up
-stay involved in all aspects
Yup, seen this as the winning approach over and over.
Something I find impossible for many people to understand or believe:
Lots of people truly enjoy working non-stop.
Their job gives them immense satisfaction, and they can't get enough.
For them, what they do for work is their favorite hobby, and there are few things they'd rather do.
Their level of dedication is a tremendous superpower that few can compete with, and many of the most successful people I know are this way.

Stock market looks like it may have just completed its correction. Have to give it a little time to prove itself. Either the lows are in or very close. Either way, I expect the melt-up to likely resume this week with a steeper, broader rally just ahead.
AI will make expertise near free. Who will build the first billion $ revenue company with <100 employees with near free programmers/doctors/advisors/etc etc? Worth attempting!! The power of ideas powered by entrepreneurial energy will be hugely multiplied as the scarce resource

22 Truths I Wish I Knew At 22
1. Most of your friends aren't really your friends. Real friends are there for you when you have nothing to offer. Cherish them.
2. Success in life is proportional to the number of difficult conversations you're willing to have.
