This is what it sounds like to talk out of both sides of your mouth:

“I am the government, and I give you ‘choice’—but only on my terms.”

I will take your tax dollars—money meant for public schools that serve all children—and funnel it into private institutions, that can pick and choose who they accept, and the vendors pockets.

I will tell you this is about “parental rights,” but I won’t tell you that many of these private schools aren’t required to follow state special education services.

I will say I support small government, but I will micromanage public schools with endless regulations, funding cuts, and state-mandated curriculum changes, while letting private schools take public money with little to no accountability.

I will tell you that competition makes education better, but I won’t tell you that when public schools lose funding to private schools, they’re left with fewer resources, larger class sizes, and fewer services for the students who need them most.

I will promise you “school choice,” but if you live in a rural area where no private schools exist, or if your child has special needs that private schools won’t accommodate, your “choice” is to stay in a defunded, struggling public school.

This isn’t #Schoolchoice This is a power play to dismantle public education under the guise of freedom. #Txlege
