Today I attended the Free Trade Zones Seminar at Church House Westminster organised by PD Ports and CILT. Making Teesport a Freeport could generate investment, jobs and income which could far outweigh the loss of ttax and duties revenues. Something to seriously consider.
@CareerReadyUK@PDPorts Well done Emily. I am so pleased you are progressing so well. Although the opportunities were there and it was not easy for a young lady in that environment you embraced it with such enthusiasm and commitment you were bound to succeed. Hapy New Year and best wishes for 2021.
I am delighted to report that the Institute of Apprenticeships have approved the development of an Urban driver (Cat C) Apprenticeship in addition to the LGV Driver Cat C+E. This is great news and should be a major help to Employers facing the driver shortage.
We had a disappointing meeting with IFATE yesterday re. LGV Driver Apprenticeship. Despite the Procedural Review being in our favour it will not be until April before we find out what the revised Funding band will be. Whilst the Sector continues to pay £10m. a month in levy.
Congratulations Chris. Your enthusiasm for the Think Logistics programme was remarkable and I am sure this award was most well deserved.I hope your talent can be retained on the Logistics Sector. Best wishes for the future.
Many congratulations to this years #CRAwards2020 Logistics Student of the Year, Chris Allon🎊
We were delighted to be sponsoring this award again, and it is so encouraging to see the incredible emerging talent that is coming into the #logistics industry via @CareerReadyUK👏
@RHAKateGibbs@RHANews@FreightTrainLLP Congratulations Lesley. Well deserved. No matter how busy you are with your business you always have time for people. Your passion for diversity and fairness makes you stand out from the crowd. Keep it up.
Congratulations to you all. When the Pandemic peaked where did the country turn for help? Not to trains or boats or planes but the lorry and the UK Haulage Industry.
So undervalued. God bless you.
We’re celebrating the drivers, engineers, coordinators and directors who have helped to keep our country going during difficult times.

The Pandemic has had a severe impact on the financial performance of hauliers.
For employees or former employees of RHA members the Benevolent Fund is available to support you. Please contact [email protected]
#WomenInEngineeringDay provides the perfect opportunity to celebrate those working in the #industry and inspire the next generation. @PDPorts Apprentice Civil Engineer Emily has shared her #career story and experience of the sector at https://t.co/xnamAkq0Dd. #INWED20
This charity is for anyone who is working or has previously worked for an RHA member. It is not a Management benefit. Most of the claims we receive are from drivers or warehose staff who have unfortunately fallen upon hard times.
Each year the Fund helps around thirty employees or former employees of RHA members who have come across hard times. If you know someone who may need support please contact us.
RHA Benevolent Fund can help if you’re suffering financial hardship due to the COVID-19 crisis.
The Fund is a charity set up to support people who are or have been connected with the RHA.

The Government need to introduce an OTIF KPI and then address the failures on a daily basis. They would then have tangible evidence in order to answer the embarrasing questions and a tool to solve this major issue.
The delivery points can be calculated by the ratio of population to the geographical regions. If the other information was available I could make a rough solution in a few hours but paragon could make a more accurate one within a day.
With the greatest respect to the army the vehicles we see them using are completely unsuitable. If there are 5,500 outlets to be delivered to daily then it should need no more than 400 vehicles. With the average size of a delivery & collection points we can build a solution.
Again at the Government briefing today the shortage of PPE was a major concern. If this is not a procurement issue then the logistics solution should be straightforward. With half the Haulage fleet idle can we not put them to use to solve this.
@RHANews @RHARodMcKenzie Further to what Rod says this is a fragmented industry working to average 2% margins. If hauliers go out of business it will not be so easy to restore the resource levels when the economy eventually recovers.
