Trump and Abbott just rammed through maps designed to kick people like me out of office.
They don't want me in Congress because they don't want us to be heard.
But we're not going anywhere.
Today I'm launching my campaign for reelection in the city I love. #TX37
@AutulloAAS @LoewyLawFirm TravCo hit 71k-ish in EV. The election widget is in person E-Day voting only. For entire City of Austin including Wilco and Hays we are at 112k
@jsdriscoll@daustinsanders Fundraising platform allows donors to add additional funds to pay for processing costs. The contribution limit is still $400, though. *ahem*
@daustinsanders@mkelly007 Heh, I think it’s probably nearly all mayors in this city have been wealthy white men— there’s some props on the ballot this year that could change that 🤠
@daustinsanders@mkelly007 Who is saying that? I just believe voters aren’t for sale. I also believe saying they can be bought is harmful to democracy. Money in politics is only important insomuch as one needs to get one’s message out. Ways to do that w/o spending money, though. We can all go ask Uber.
@daustinsanders If people can just “buy” their way into office, why do we have elections anyway? I believe the premise that voters can be/are “bought” is fundamentally anti-democratic.
