Both horses worked really well.

The original thought and goal was to keep them apart, but Powershift may have worked a little TOO good not to consider the Belmont.

It is pretty surprising that no one else from the Derby has jumped into this depleted field at the last second. A bunch of horses sitting on the sidelines could be favored in a $2 million Grade 1, and all their connections are just saying, “No, thanks!”

I hope Englishman has a rematch with Crude Velocity in the Woody Stephens. He wasn’t fit enough yet in the Pat Day Mile and was incredibly good breaking from inside and setting those fractions. He’s dead fit now though!!! He will crush CV if they rematch at 7f

The most valuable handicapping angles are those that prompt you to view something a little differently than the rest of the general public. Mildly annoyed at myself that I noticed this and even discussed it in our DRF Derby Handicapping Live Show, but didn't place value on it.
