For so many, especially those who served and their families, Veterans Day is a day of reflection and remembrance. It’s also a day for the entire nation to recognize the men and women who bravely served our country.

The greatest honor of my life was to serve our nation with men and women from every corner of the country and every walk of life. We came from different places, had different stories, but we served as Americans. As brothers and sisters. 

In a time when our nation is so divided, today let's come together to honor those who served our nation and fought for our right to speak freely and disagree, in pursuit of that more perfect union.

I’m glad General George Washington didn’t say “let’s surrender because Great Britain is too powerful and defeating them is unlikely.” But, that is what some of our leaders are saying to Ukraine, the victim of a Russian invasion. Surrendering to a tyrant is not peace.
