🔥 WHY HASN'T PI FLIPPED THE SWITCH TO PROTOCOL P25 YET?
We can already see P25.2.2 on Docker Hub, and even P26.0.1 has been available for quite some time.
Yet Testnet is still running Protocol 24.
So the question is:
❓ Why hasn't Pi Core Team flipped the switch?
The interesting part is that this isn't simply a software update story.
Behind it are three critical challenges that every decentralized blockchain network must solve.
▸ 1️⃣ PREVENTING A FORK
Imagine half the network running Protocol 25 while the other half remains on Protocol 24.
What happens then?
↳ The two groups of Nodes no longer speak the same language.
↳ Each side validates transactions using different rules.
↳ The blockchain could split into separate chains.
That's what we call a Fork.
Once that happens, the consequences go far beyond a technical issue. It can directly threaten the integrity and reliability of the entire network.
That's why Core Team must ensure that the vast majority of Nodes are ready before everyone moves to the new protocol together.
▸ 2️⃣ PROTECTING CONSENSUS
Blockchain survives because of consensus.
A strong network doesn't just need a large number of Nodes.
It needs capable Nodes.
🔹 CPU
🔹 RAM
🔹 Storage
🔹 Network speed
🔹 Ledger synchronization performance
All of these factors affect transaction validation.
Activating an upgrade too early could weaken performance and potentially introduce security risks.
The goal isn't simply having enough Nodes.
The goal is having enough quality Nodes.
▸ 3️⃣ FILTERING OUT INACTIVE NODES
Every network contains:
↳ Abandoned Nodes
↳ Outdated Nodes
↳ Underpowered hardware
↳ Operators who never update
A longer preparation period naturally becomes a filtering process.
Nodes that cannot meet the new requirements gradually fall behind.
The operators who continue following upgrades and maintaining their infrastructure become the real backbone of the network.
This ultimately creates a stronger and healthier ecosystem for the next stage of growth.
🚨 THE BIGGER PICTURE
Many people assume that seeing P25 or P26 appear on Docker Hub means the network is ready for activation.
Not necessarily.
Docker images only show that the software has been built.
Flipping the switch for an entire blockchain network is a completely different decision.
It depends on the readiness of thousands of Nodes around the world.
Think of it like a wastewater treatment plant:
🔹 The new tank may already be built.
🔹 The pumps may already be installed.
🔹 The pipelines may already be connected.
But before putting the entire system into production, engineers still perform trial runs, monitoring, and stability testing.
Blockchain is no different.
Sometimes the longest part isn't building the technology.
It's making sure thousands of moving parts can operate reliably as one system.
💜 A possibility that is becoming increasingly visible:
Pi Core Team may not be waiting for a new version.
They may be waiting for the entire network to be ready for that version.

Ecosystem Directory Staking just got a new look and improved user experience!
Originally launched on Pi2Day 2025, staking through this feature increases an app’s exposure to the Pi community, resulting in more impressions and potentially more user traffic. By staking Pi, Pioneers can collectively support apps and services while developers and creators can promote their apps and tap into Pi’s 60M+ engaged community to acquire users.
The update prepares the feature for further utilization by developers, creators, vibe coders and Pioneers as more apps onboard to the ecosystem.
Note there are no rewards at the protocol level for staking, and the original staked amount will be returned once the staked duration has ended.

One of the purposes of the Pi Launchpad test token launches is to introduce Pioneers to new ecosystem token mechanics and educate the community on how to participate with DeFi mechanisms.
The first test token provided useful data and highlighted areas where the Launchpad experience needed improvement.
The updated participation flow is simpler and clearer. Participation is now centered around the commitment amount, which has the direct effect on token acquisition. A Pioneer chooses how much Test-Pi they want to commit, and the Launchpad automatically calculates the related “fair-access hold,” and then shows the commitment amount, hold amount, and total together before confirmation.
The goal is to make it easier to understand and use the Pi Launchpad, and preserve the intended fair-access effect of the hold.

Not slow the aging. Not patch the damage. Wind it backward.

The target is the eye. Open-angle glaucoma and NAION, a condition that steals sight fast. Both are aging diseases of the optic nerve.
They inject it straight into the eye, then turn on three of the four Yamanaka factors. Those are the genes Shinya Yamanaka won a Nobel for, the ones that can walk a cell back toward its younger self.
They do not touch your DNA. Your DNA is fine. What breaks with age is the cell’s ability to read it. The instructions go noisy and the cell forgets which genes to run. Aging is not the machine wearing out. It is the machine losing the manual.
Reprogramming does not wipe the cell back to blank. It hands the manual back. Partway, on purpose, so the cell remembers how to be young without forgetting who it is.
