Succession is by the Holy Ghost, not by a set of metaphorical keys.

@ClarkeMicah @Dogbox19 ...Peter was the Bishop of Rome, so Romans decided that the succession would go to the next bishop, whom they chose. But all this is contested by Eastern Orthodox, who trace succession through onstantinople, Antioch, Alexandria, Jerusalem.

@ClarkeMicah @Dogbox19 The legend is that Jesus gave keys to Peter, before the church of Rome existed, then Peter went to Rome. But Peter died, so who did he pass the keys onto? The keys are not a physical object anyway, so there could be several lines of authority....
