I've been a student of Myanmar history and politics my entire adult life; I've lived and worked in the country for over a dozen years; I know all the key actors in the present drama; and I can honestly say I don't know what the coming months will bring.
The Myanmar generals have always been motivated by power not wealth. Their friends and enemies are all within the country. The rest of the world barely matters. Their creed is nationalism and their dream is to end the country's 75 year old civil war on their terms.
The first thing I would do if I was in Parliament is call for Ho Ching to be fired and launch a civil suit against her husband for appointing her without considering other better qualified candidates asking him to pay back the hundreds of millions she has been paid.
