ARRESTED FOR DEFENDING THEIR LAND AND PEOPLE.
The recent arrest of five #Kuki_Zo individuals, in the presence of Central SFs is critically alarming for the Kuki-Zo community.
While the Valley-based insurgents groups (VBIGs) are openly brandishing sophisticated automatic weapons and ammunition in the valley, the indiscriminate terrorizing of the Kuki-Zo people and the subsequent arrest of five individuals is a threat that belies all hopes for safety and security for the minority Kuki-Zo community who have been fully cooperative with law enforcement efforts.

The Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights (KWOHR) vehemently condemns the despicable act of burning houses belonging to Seijathang Khongsai, ex-Secretary of Kuki Inpi Jiribam by the combined forces of #ArambaiTenggol, #MeiteiMilitants, and the Manipur state forces at Phaitol village on June 8.

Furthermore, the reprehensible assault on 7 Kuki women and the arrest of 2 Kuki village volunteers by the Assam Rifles on the same day is intolerable.

The KWOHR also vehemently condemns the alarming incident at L.Hengjol village on June 9, where 3 Kuki village volunteers were unjustly arrested and 5 Kuki women were injured by central forces.

Kuki’s march to the streets once again to condemn the unwarranted arrest of 5 Kuki Village volunteers at Phaitol Village of Jiribam district yesterday and L. Hengjang of Kangpokpi district earlier this morning without probable cause.

The Kuki Inpi further calls for a total shutdown in all Kuki dominated areas for the 10th of July raising slogans -

"Arrest the oppressors, not the victims.”
“Arrest INJUSTICE, not the KUKIS.” etc

The arbritary arrest under the presence of central forces screams discriminatory policing and need to be called out.
The arrested individuals must be released immediately else,the unlawful motives of the central forces will come into question.
