Today, Prime Minister Nsengiyumva visited the Muvumba Multipurpose Dam Project in Nyagatare, a key investment in Rwanda’s sustainable development.

Once completed, the project will irrigate more than 10,000 hectares of farmland, generate electricity, and provide clean water for thousands of households, strengthening food security, livelihoods, and climate resilience.

Today, as Rwanda marks the 32nd anniversary of Liberation Day, Prime Minister Nsengiyumva joined residents of Bigogwe Sector in Nyabihu District for the closing ceremony of the Defence and Security Citizen Outreach Programme (DSCOP 26), where he inaugurated 30 newly built homes for vulnerable families.

In his remarks, the Prime Minister commended the Rwanda Defence Force and the Rwanda National Police for their continued commitment to improving the lives of Rwandans through the annual outreach programme, highlighting its tangible impact on communities across the country.

This afternoon, Prime Minister Nsengiyumva received Fanfan Rwanyindo Kayirangwa, Assistant Director-General and Regional Director for Africa of the International Labour Organization (ILO).

Their discussions focused on further strengthening the partnership between Rwanda and the ILO to advance employment, skills development, and inclusive economic growth.

Today, Prime Minister Nsengiyumva virtually addressed the opening ceremony of the Lesotho National Leadership Forum, which was officiated by Prime Minister Samuel Matekane of Lesotho.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Nsengiyumva shared Rwanda’s experience in governance and national transformation, while highlighting the strong partnership between Lesotho and Rwanda.

“We particularly value the exchanges that have taken place between Lesotho and Rwanda in recent years, including our participation in Lesotho’s National Leadership Retreat, which reflect our shared commitment to learning from one another’s experiences. This afternoon, Prime Minister Nsengiyumva received a delegation from the Silk Road Fund (SRK), a Chinese investment fund, led by its Chairwoman Zhu Jun.

Discussions focused on investment opportunities for the fund in several sectors, including health, energy, education, and agriculture.

On the sidelines of the African Union Summit, Prime Minister Nsengiyumva met with Dr. Richard Hatchett, CEO of CEPI (the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations), a global partnership that supports the development of vaccines against emerging epidemic and pandemic threats and strengthens rapid outbreak response.

They discussed continued collaboration to further reinforce Rwanda’s and Africa’s preparedness and response capacity, including clinical research, regulatory readiness, and faster vaccine development and access during health emergencies.
