Article 370 has been, and will always remain, an integral part of the federal Constitution of India. This special provision was the labour of mutual conversation of India with its diversity; it was not an act of charity. HCM @OmarAbdullah Sahab's statement on Article 370 reaffirms to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as to the people of India, that the day will come when the nation will be governed, in fact culturally shaped, by the norms and values enshrined in the Constitution of India.
Today's statement has in fact opened a new dimension for the academia, encouraging deeper exploration of the Constitution and the federal structure of India. It reinforces the idea that the Constitution of India is a living tree–one that shelters diversity without nurturing hatred or communalism.
