@fuxianyi@Lingling_Wei yes, I skimmed the articles. I do not really trust the China statistics, but these estimates seem too far different. Going forward, Afrika is swamping all of the next population projections but these might be just as unrealistic as the China population projections 50 years ago.
@mrillig I enjoyed your talk at XJTLU, interesting. But I still am not convinced that your interpretation is correct as stress on the microbes increases with adding multiple factors at the same level.
@JeffOllerton@DynamicEcology Brian did not mention the mega journals, Science of the Total Environment, Sustainability, the extended Nature journals, etc., that first, when small, built up their ranking, then go mega, publish 10k+ articles per year and cash in.
@JeffOllerton@DynamicEcology I also completely agree with Brian McGill. Publishing is totally out of control. I am currently in China, and its exponentially worse here.
@wayneriekhof I agree. To add one thing, as department chair, lining up and supporting new faculty in developing, and creating a supportive, productive department atmosphere ranks above this.
@Jon_Chase03 kind of obvious, as you are putting apples and oranges in the same analysis, strongly disturbed areas with more natural areas, which differ in herbivore and certainly carnivore communities.
