Today’s Gospel (Luke 12:1-7)

Jesus warns His disciples about the hypocrisy of the Pharisees. He says nothing stays hidden forever. Then He tells them not to be afraid of people who can only hurt the body. Instead, fear the One who has power over both body and soul. He reminds them that God notices even the sparrows and that the hairs on their head are counted. So don’t be afraid you’re worth more than many sparrows.
What gets me is how He mixes a warning with real comfort.

Hypocrisy is dangerous and the truth eventually comes out. But right in the middle of that He tells His friends they’re known and valued by God. Some days I need the warning. Other days I just need to hear that I’m not forgotten. For me both parts belong together.
