Feels like the universe is gaslighting me here.
I swear the #GoHabsGo and #LRGW already had a deal in the summer, and Larkin refused to waive.
Was that not true?
Good bet as we witness Kris Draper in attendance at another MTL game tonight, that Detroit and Montreal are close to finalizing an agreement for Dylan Larkin.
At that point, they will approach Larkin for approval, and we’ll have an answer to the MTL question. #LGRW#GoHabsGo
Difference is you can argue that there are 7 playoff-worthy teams in the Atlantic, and a maximum of 5 will make it, and the teams can't do anything about it.
There have always been stacked divisions, but I don't think we've seen a division as stacked AND as deep as the Atlantic.
Ive never understood complaining about divisions. I remember when the pacific div was the powerhouse for a decade with Van, Lak, Sjs, and Cgy.
Days whe Tor, Fla, and Buf all sucked.
The switch is natural. Pacific is in rebuilding phases while other divs aren't. Its a cycle.
The point of these meetings is to debate, so that the head scouts are as informed as possible on every player.
Everyone is gonna defend the player they like. And you hope the scouts will make the right decision.
I don't think there's anything inherently wrong here.
#GoHabsGo
Hindsight is 20/20 and they likely do this for every player but Riendeau, Montreal's "Goalie and Russia Pro Scout" seems totally dismissive of Ryan's work on Fowler compared to his guy. Happy Ryan won this fight, but Fowler was taken after every other marquee name goalie in '23.
Courtney Sarault and Tyson Philpot are the two people that come to mind for me.
If the #AlsMTL win the Grey Cup and Philpot has a dominant postseason, I think it's his.
Random 2am thought. We're almost through 2026.
Who is your front-runner for the Northern Star (Canadian Athlete of the Year) Award?
I honestly can't think of a clear front runner. Will it be an Olympians year to win it after Milano-Cortina? Hmm. #TeamCanada
#GoHabsGo
@JacobPacheco6 Dabrowski would be cool. Definitely agree that she needs more respect.
Philpot has just had an insane season, though. Maybe the best ever by a Canadian receiver.
Tonight was the only game where they were really bad 5v5, imo.
And that's understandable after the adrenaline high of the Heritage Classic.
I'd expect a better 5v5 performance on Thursday.
#GoHabsGo
I feel like this makes more sense than Larkin suddenly waiving.
Especially since the #GoHabsGo already had a deal with Detroit in the summer, so they don't need to figure out what they want in return.
Some fans think it's a problem, but it's a massive luxury to have trouble deciding who to play, especially on D.
And if a player stops playing well because they get scratched every 2-4 games, then they're not that good to begin with.
#GoHabsGo
Xhekaj has been playing some of his best hockey. You don't want him to lose his rhythm or confidence but you also don't want Engstrom to lose his rhythm or confidence.
Surprised Dobes didn't get the start. Might be a while before we see him.
It would be nice if the #GoHabsGo were more disciplined.
But if you watch the games, this really isn't only their fault.
They seem to get called on every 50/50 play.
And those don't often get called in their favour.
They might need to start selling calls, unfortunately.
