Windows 11 just got a major update, and it's rolling out today 🧵
1. Meet the new Start menu
Windows 11 is getting a redesigned Start menu, which, according to Microsoft, makes it easier to access apps because everything is in one place. You don't have to keep tapping on buttons to find your apps. You just need to scroll, and all apps will appear.
It is also possible to remove the Recommended feed, which was used by Microsoft to show ads.
You can now switch between two new views—category view, which groups apps by type and highlights frequently used ones, and grid view, which lists apps alphabetically with more horizontal space for easier scanning.
Also, the Start menu now has a responsive layout. Larger displays show more pinned apps, recommendations, and categories by default. Sections like Pinned and Recommended expand or collapse based on content.
You can customize these views under Settings > Personalization > Start.
Simpler, smarter device management is here.

Windows 11 25H2 introduces a new policy that promises to remove default Microsoft Store apps. Sounds perfect, right? (Well...)
In our first blog, we already pointed out that it doesn’t actually remove them. It just blocks store apps from being provisioned for new users.
In this follow-up, we will demonstrate what happens when the policy is applied, explain why the apps still appear to linger, reveal what’s hiding in the registry, and discuss how this affects both new and existing users.

Important notice!
Today, Windows Autopilot uses the Intune Connector for Active Directory to deploy devices that are Microsoft Entra hybrid joined. To strengthen security in our customers’ environments, we’ve updated the Intune Connector for Active Directory to use a Managed Service Account (MSA) instead of a SYSTEM account.
The Intune Connector for Active Directory builds which use the SYSTEM account will be deprecated on June 30, 2025. Starting July 1, enrollments from old builds will be blocked.

Recently I was targeted by an extremely sophisticated phishing attack, and I want to highlight it here. It exploits a vulnerability in Google's infrastructure, and given their refusal to fix it, we're likely to see it a lot more. Here's the email I got:
Hotpatching isn't limited to client devices; it's also available for Windows Server, whether in the cloud via Azure Update Manager, on-premises through Azure ARC, or managed through Intune. Once enabled, servers receive monthly security patches without requiring a reboot, keeping workloads secure and available. Azure handles orchestration, so updates stay on track with less effort.
