My observation from the last few hours of monitoring US social media is that Democrats are universally denouncing political violence & calling for calm while MAGA are escalating rhetoric & lusting for retribution against broad categories of people they identity as their enemies.
An entire generation under the age of 30 is coming to realization that having a family and home will never be within the grasp of reality for them
Society is not ready for the consequences of this. A generation with no stake in the system would rather watch it burn
I would trust DOGE more if they started at the top with the $64 billion in PPP fraud instead of instantly nuking humanitarian efforts for babies in Africa.
who does that.
DOGE is not a legal government agency. It doesn't exist. The people who are working for Musk are not government employees nor are they contracted employees. They have no legal basis I can find that would allow them access to protected government data. There is zero oversight.
"HOW COULD A HELICOPTER CRASH INTO AN AIRPLANE!!"
Well, you see, the President of the United States and the Transportation Secretary are both former reality tv stars and the Secretary of Defense is an alcoholic.
Despicable. As families grieve, Trump should be leading, not lying. We put safety first, drove down close calls, grew Air Traffic Control, and had zero commercial airline crash fatalities out of millions of flights on our watch.
President Trump now oversees the military and the FAA. One of his first acts was to fire and suspend some of the key personnel who helped keep our skies safe. Time for the President to show actual leadership and explain what he will do to prevent this from happening again.
So if Biden fired the heads of TSA, the Coast Guard and key aviation safety advisers, and a week later two aircraft’s collide, then that would put the blame on him…. Right?
I’ve been reflecting on this over the past day or so, and I’ve come to a realization.
Many of my friends on the center-right who are upset with me for making what I believe to be very obvious observations aren’t necessarily angry at me—they’re angry at the implications of what I’m saying.
The idea that neo-Nazism has entered the mainstream, potentially influencing the White House, is so alarming and existentially terrifying that it's easier to lash out at the messenger than confront the reality.
If they accept this, it means that the political home they've invested so much of their identity in, the movement they've championed for years, has become something so morally repugnant that accepting it feels like breaking their own brain.
The cognitive dissonance is overwhelming.
What's striking to me is the selective outrage. Many of these same people are quick to call everyone communists, often with little more than circumstantial evidence.
Yet, when it comes to countless instances of glaringly obvious signs of fascism in their own movement, they either look away or attack those pointing it out.
What Musk and Ramaswamy and Trump are doing - shutting down the government and cutting off pay for our troops right at Christmas - is so so dark.
They are so filthy wealthy and out of touch and bored that they think it’s fun to mess with the lives of regular people for fun.
The US Congress this week came to an agreement to fund our government.
Elon Musk, who became $200 BILLION richer since Trump was elected, objected.
Are Republicans beholden to the American people? Or President Musk?
This is oligarchy at work.
Democrats and Republicans spent months negotiating a bipartisan agreement to fund our government.
The richest man on Earth, President Elon Musk, doesn’t like it.
Will Republicans kiss the ring?
Billionaires must not be allowed to run our government.
USPS doesn’t “lose” money. It costs money. It’s a service that benefits everyone.
In a rational country, we wouldn’t even need to explain to grown adults how public services work, or why it’s a terrible idea to erode them.
@AdvocateRa65269 @0wheatgrain0@MushtaqBilalPhD I wouldn't call it creative writing -- it's distilling, defining, and labeling a piece of our zeitgeist. Maybe on it's own isn't "deep" but it is absolutely the colorful context of our history. Without it, the core and essence of our culture is lost to time.
