Rambled so much I needed a Word document. Perhaps through some blurry eyes.
The support this week has been overwhelming.
Thanks for everything, friends. 🖤🩶❤️
@ExnerPirot I’m less concerned about the data centres and more worried about how AI will be used. If it’s a tool for people to use to help do their jobs better, great. If it’s to replace workers on mass scale with AI agents, you’ve lost me.
@RingOfFireCGY@MatchsticksCGY Excellent point. The audience is there but how the content is being delivered and who’s delivering it is changing. They ought to get ahead of it.
@RingOfFireCGY@MatchsticksCGY Less coverage of the product ultimately hurts the Flames. I hope they’re doing something behind the scenes. It seems a tad cowardly if they don’t do/say anything.
@Pete___Hughes They must’ve based this decision on some metrics, but I don’t get it. Between Calgary and Van, the metro pop. is aalmost 5 million. Even if you leave aside local programming, that’s a lot of ears for Jays games, national programs, etc. Bottom line, they’re solely focused on T.O.
@Fuzzard23@CGYNation11@miketgould@htrickkane9 Let’s see, between 2010 and 2016, the Oilies drafted six times in the top 4, including four 1st overalls. Among those 1sts were Yakupov and Puljujarvi. They fell ass-backwards into the greatest player ever to lace ‘em up. And how many cups from all that prime draft capital?
@Trevor_Neufeld@REnbacher Maybe QR770 steps in for the game broadcasts? But it’s all the other content, too. I could see Flames Nation pulling in some on air personalities and adding a couple more podcasts. If there’s an audience, there’s an opportunity.
@EricFrancis Where do you work again, Francis? Are you planning a column torching this move? Fourth largest hockey market in Canada, team starting to turn around, new arena a year away and Rogers does this?
Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦
When I was alone, walking north on the trail for months at a time, I had plenty of time to think about home. Every mile reminded me how fortunate I was to have grown up in Canada, and how grateful I was to be coming back.
My dad arrived here as a refugee. My family built a life through hard work and the opportunities this country made possible. Canada isn't perfect, but it has given generations the chance to build something better. That's a promise worth protecting, and one we all have a responsibility to pass on.
To me, Canada is at its best when everyone has the chance to belong and contribute. Whether your family has lived on this land since time immemorial, you arrived generations ago, or you came here seeking a new beginning, your story is part of our shared story. No matter where you came from, who you love, or how you worship, we are stronger when we choose to build a better future together.
Happy Canada Day, Calgary. Happy Canada Day, Canada.
@RyanNPike@FlamesNation With the draft in the rear view mirror, what about acquiring a top-six centre? Do the Flames have the means to trade for Geekie from Tampa, Wright from Seattle? And should they?
@Sportsnet@EricFrancis I don’t think there are haters, who’s gonna hate Joe? They Just pulled the trigger about one round too early. But if the narrative motivates him, have at her.
