Going to the movies should be accessible for everyone. Audio description is essential for many people who are blind or have low vision, yet barriers remain.

Afdo was saddened by the recent loss of our former director and dear friend Frank Hall-Bentick. His tireless work across national and international disability space was well known. Vale, Frank, our thanks & appreciation for and to you
Vale - Frank Hall-Bentick, loss hit me hard. A strong advocate and fantastic person who tirelessly worked for PwD. He gave me the nod for my CEO role, my intentions of visiting him again, but alas, no more chats at his kitchen table, but that’ll do, that’ll do, RIP @AfdoOffice

AFDO's response to NDIS Quality & Safeguards Commission report into group homes
'The NDIS Quality & Safeguards report on disability group homes is a welcome review of a complex and persistent systemic failure,' says Ross Joyce, CEO of the AFDO.
1/n
'People with a disability living in group homes continue to suffer abuse to their rights, including having no choice and control of who provides their accommodation or supports and any ability to speak up to defend themselves for fear of retribution.
'People with a disability want these changes and need them now, are we, as a society, willing to continue to ignore and allow to perpetuate this systemic abuse and failure?'

Vale Janine Neu
It is with great sadness we recognise the passing of Janine, AFDO Director & Deputy Chair from 2018.
A proud advocate who always sought to improve the lives of people with disabilities through individual or systemic advocacy. Dearly missed by us all.
