@pollypocketmode I was at BJ's the other day and I saw a guy talking to his girl about buying a window fan, I told him where they have cheaper ones immediately and he was like "alright then, I guess I'm going there"
I have my dead mom's phone (I use it for some 2fa stuff ive been too lazy to change) and over a year ago it rang and I answered to my own voice going "hello mom" and then silent when I responded
@clernck As someone who also worked at one of the big ad agencies, you are so far up your own ass you are ridiculous. No one in the industry has the hubris to think they are defining culture lmao
@cojobrien Cities are inherently dynamic built environments and requiring that new buildings *match* the existing ones nearby (neighborhood character!) is stupid and a violation of property rights. No great city would have come into existence under this standard.
I’m sympathetic that many men feel alienated by spaces largely shaped by more feminine norms
But (1) you often don’t have to be there, you’re making a choice, (2) your social norms are mostly just as inane, (3) you underestimate the utility of the norms, and (4) cmon suck it up
The big problem with suburban living is that people want to live near to a city, but not actually within the city, and then insist that we make the city worse by demolishing large parts of it for roads and parking so that they can travel in and out by car.
@eye_that_sees@megamapmaker We shouldn't follow the thoroughly proven most efficient method because it might make some irrational idiots mad? Really stupid mentality to have.
Europeans: “American tourists are the worst! we don’t want you here! more refugees less tourists!”
also Europeans: “I’m gonna go to America and purposefully piss off the locals as much as I can”
