The High Commission of India in Rwanda @IndiaKigali organized the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY 2026) at the Zaria Court in Kigali today. Mr. Gilbert Muvunyi, DG for Sports Development @Rwanda_Sports , represented the Hon. Minister of Sports of Rwanda as the Guest of Honour, while Mr. Virgile Rwanyagatare, DG Asia-Pacific & Middle East @RwandaMFA , represented the Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Special guests included Mr. Maurice Mugabowagahunde @gahundemaurice , Hon. Governor of Rwanda’s Northern Province, Mr. Francis Gatare, President of the African School of Governance @ASG_Africa , and Prof. Charity Manyeruke, Ambassador of Zimbabwe to Rwanda and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.
The event brought together more than 500 Yoga enthusiasts, including members of the Indian diaspora, diplomats and members of international organisations, government officials, Rwandan nationals and Friends of India. Following brief welcome remarks by High Commissioner @IFS_Mridu and the Guest of Honour, a video on global IDY celebrations over the years was screened. Thereafter, Yoga Instructor, Mr. Nikhil Nuwal led a rejuvenating Yoga session based on the Common Yoga Protocol.

GeM Welcomes Delegation from 23 ITEC Partner Countries 🌍

A delegation of 24 senior officials from 23 ITEC partner countries visited the headquarters of the Government e Marketplace (GeM) as part of a capacity-building initiative organised in collaboration with AJNIFM.

The visit marked a key step in advancing international cooperation on digital public procurement and strengthening knowledge exchange on technology-driven reforms.

“Our aim is to build a procurement ecosystem that is not only efficient, but inclusive. When buyers and sellers connect in a fair, transparent online marketplace, the country benefits,” said Shri Mihir Kumar, CEO, Government e Marketplace (GeM).

The programme provided delegates with an in-depth understanding of GeM’s digital architecture, best-in-class procurement practices and the transformational outcomes achieved across India. It also addressed systemic challenges of traditional procurement and showcased how GeM’s technology-led solutions are redefining the landscape.

Through this visit, GeM reaffirmed its commitment to advancing global advocacy for digital public procurement reform — sharing India’s expertise with partner nations and enabling the adoption of scalable, transparent, and inclusive procurement practices worldwide.
