@SSTeachesStuff @totalstemteach I drill this into new teachers I work with. But every single one comes back and says they have to give 0s and 50s because of district policy. It breaks my heart.

@SSTeachesStuff @totalstemteach Yes! The purpose of grades is to show progress toward mastery. If grades are given as punishment, it has nothing to do with mastery toward content and, therefore, provides us with no information as to whether or not the student has learned.
