@ByMHarrington I think that’s a big part of it, Mike. Also, that Bettman believes that the first round matchups bring in the casual fans more, and grow the game from viewership perspective. After Memorial Day, harder to get non obsessed fans to pay attention.

@NotTheJoeMarino Jarmo has no allegiance to Kesselring. Still young, cost-controlled, RD — he will have real value. Going to need some pieces to come together to get Robert Thomas. Or Knies. Or whoever they bring in up front. Particularly if they don’t re-sign Tuchy.

@jakeebets @in_buffalo @ByMHarrington Agreed all around. Jarmo is taking swings. Some will be good, some won’t. But you need to reward the boys for where they are in the standings. Guys in the room don’t care about picks and prospects - they want guys to help them today.

@jakeebets @in_buffalo @ByMHarrington This is right — you want to get off no trade lists, and to be able to sign free agents? Win in the playoffs. Be competitive every year. Kids and pipelines are great to have in the system, but they all can’t play. They are assets and good teams monetize them when appropriate.
