Also an argument that would *not* have worked in the Same Sex Marriage plebiscite. ‘Trust the law over the noise’. Can she hear herself? It’s dripping with irony.
“Anna Cody tells us to trust the law over the “noise”. But as one of the women being crushed by that law, I’m telling you the real noise is the ideological nonsense drowning out basic reality.”

The post makes total sense to this Anglican clergyman! :) Question, then — Can I ask what are the Roman or Eastern presuppositions that would have allowed him to get past his conclusion about Scripture?
Not surprising that he ended up back in Protestantism when he began with Protestant presuppositions. If you judge Catholicism or Orthodoxy by Protestant standards, naturally they will fall short.
As an 8 year old in 1978, our teacher would make us sing songs here in Sydney, Australia and, in one of them, we were ‘taken by the hand through the Streets of London’. Living in sunny Sydney, I imagined only the worst in 1970s Britain. @holland_tom@dcsandbrook@TheRestHistory
We are currently doing a series on the downfall of the Iranian monarchy and the coming to power of an Ayatollah. So odd to contemplate the possibility that, even as we record it, we are being overtaken by the exact reverse happening.
Question @TroyBramston — you say early on that Hawke would have torn up Kerr’s dismissal. Do you answer later the question - ‘what would have happened next?’ Do you have a theory, Troy? What would Kerr have done? Would Hawke have won??
Reading @TroyBramston’s biography on Gough Whitlam, having met his son last month serendipitously. One thing I’ve noticed so far (Chapter 5) is that Whitlam basically lived, like, everywhere.
Morning Prayer at St Philip’s @churchhillsyd, 7.30am Wednesdays in Advent. @jmoff led today, and an excellent homily from Isaiah 10:33-11:9 delivered by Matthew Peters. The last two verses of Ch. 10 provide interesting context for the better known and beautiful passage in Ch. 11.
@holland_tom Free tomorrow, if you and @dcsandbrook are!
;)
Genuine Australian history. And are all these royal signatures all in one place anywhere else? Have a great rest of tour. Loving Elizabeth and Nazis.
@holland_tom@dcsandbrook Not as exciting as the final session of the Perth test! But genuine Australian history. A fellow at the ABC reckons these two books are unique in this way: he knows of no other holy books present at the founding of a modern nation (or an Ancient one). St Philip’s on Church Hill.
@holland_tom@dcsandbrook If ur staying in Sydney, you’d be welcome to view two books present on the First Fleet: the Rev Richard Johnson’s Bible and 1662 Book of Common Prayer, signed by Edward VIII, George VI, Elizabeth II and HM King Charles III + Diana. If walking past! DM :)
Question for @TheRestHistory Club @holland_tom@dcsandbrook: What is *new* about the King’s announcement today about Andrew Mountbatten Windsor? You wouldn’t say that royalty has been exemplary in matters sexual over the last 1000 years.
