NEW: The DOJ announces charges against 12 additional defendants in alleged fraud schemes targeting taxpayer-funded programs across the Southeast, involving more than $90 million in intended losses.

Among the cases is an alleged $20 million food stamp fraud scheme tied to a Miami convenience store. Prosecutors say the defendants convinced SNAP recipients to exchange their benefits for cash at a discount.

Federal officials say three of the four defendants have been arrested, including one taken into custody after arriving in the United States from Jordan.

We should nuke the filibuster to pass the SAVE America Act.

If we don’t have the votes to nuke the filibuster, we should put the SAVE America Act on the floor and debate it until it passes, requiring filibustering senators to speak and making clear that if they stop speaking, we can “call the question” and pass it with a simple majority.

If for some reason we can’t do that—and to be clear, there’s no legitimate reason why we can’t—then we should use budget reconciliation to pass it.

But not passing the SAVE America Act is not an option.

Neither is taking a lengthy recess without doing any of the above.

The United States Senate should cancel the August recess. Senators should not take a five-week vacation while the security of American elections hangs in the balance. President Trump is right: don't leave town until the SAVE America Act is law.

I commend Senators Mike Lee, Rick Scott, Ashley Moody, Jim Banks, Tommy Tuberville, Katie Britt, and Darline Graham for publicly committing to keep the Senate at its post. They understand what is truly at stake. Only American citizens should decide American elections, and a country that cannot secure its ballots cannot secure its future. It's called the SAVE America Act for a reason: passing it is how we save America.

Conservatives will remember who stood up. Every senator who publicly supports staying in session until the SAVE America Act passes will be rated favorably in the 2026 CPAC Ratings. And if there is a recorded vote on adjournment, CPAC will score it.
