“I was neither angry nor scared. It simply was. It was a fact about the world, like the distance from the sun to the Earth.” Revisit an excerpt from Paul Kalanithi’s posthumously published memoir, “When Breath Becomes Air.” https://t.co/pEc8oxX26k
@drmattmc@ThielsCA And how intellectually stimulating and motivating is that to a bright undergraduate student or medical student that might explore the field of radiation oncology as an option for their future?
@DrFrankRoberts Not technically a professor, but most definitely a teacher and educator (!!), Vivien Thomas is portrayed most skillfully by Mos Def in Something the Lord Made (2004). Incredible movie and incredible true story.
@pienta_brady Donald Coffey…what an amazing individual. Recently watched (again) “Something The Lord Made” about Vivien Thomas. I think it’s time for a similar movie about the life of Donald Coffey.
One might think that this is all Congress needs to see to recognize what it needs to do (hint, current senate bill is awfully generous to PBMs and patients still don’t get first dollar coverage… can you fix that?).
And yet…
@NPLB_org
Congress is on the verge of gutting cancer & Alzheimer’s R&D w/ a few careless lines in reconciliation bill b/c seemingly everyone is tired of trying to do the right thing & thinks no one will notice.
You’ll never want to contribute to a campaign after this reading this. 1/20
