Pursuing justice means saying 'yes' to discomfort -- discomfort of difficult conversations, discomfort of holy confrontation, discomfort of harsh realities, discomfort of honest self-evaluation, and discomfort of reparations.
One of the traps of whiteness is that it places too much attention on intellectual capacity. But, by leaning too hard on one facet of humanity, whiteness forfeits many other forms of insight: body wisdom, spirituality, etc. Trust your whole self. That is where freedom lies.
"Meet in the Middle" is a nice sounding sentiment, but would require truth-telling, accountability, and repenting from the ways we've demonized each other. Common ground requires mutual respect and a shared narrative.
This is how you entrench inequality:
We let the poor “invest” in lottery tickets, sports gambling and casinos but not startups.
The first three are perennial losers. Startups have returned 15% over the past 50 years.
Toxic worship is what created an impotent American evangelicalism that has lost its way.
Songs that we make popular are not always the songs we should be singing.
I have a short story to share. I told myself I’d never publicly tell this but I felt the Spirit impress me to share: Many years ago I was approached by a well known prophet right before leading worship... https://t.co/v2jlwqEvjg
THERE IS NO LACK!
We could all have access to healthcare, education, housing, food. This is misappropriation of funds. Yes, that’s the correct term since many citizens, like me 🙋🏽♀️, pay taxes but don’t agree to this nonsense. And if I don’t pay I won’t become president!

🚨THIS ANSWER will drive *a lot* of convo today ... BIDEN says he’ll create a “national commission” to create a plan “as to how to reform the court system”

...Let me....get this straight...I get COVID-19 and die in two weeks. You’re going to point your finger at the “dishonest CDC” and say “BUT BUT BUT she had controlled asthma!!!!!”
No. If that happens, let it be known that COVID-19 killed me. Not the disease I’ve had all my life.
Imagine if the City of Chicago reacted to generational poverty, disinvestment and inequity in Black and Brown communities with the same priority that the city gives to a downtown, global retail chain store, that is broken into.
“I see no color” is not the goal.
“I see your color and I honor you. I value your input. I will be educated about your lived experiences. I will work against the racism that harms you. You are beautiful. And I will do better.”
... That’s the goal.
Just 75 years ago someone who looked like me didn’t have a credential into a White House built by slaves.
The first black female White House reporter pawned her watch every week to eat.
Grateful the next time I walk through the gates it will be as a White House corespondent ❤️
So applicable to today’s arguments over what to do about monuments to Confederate heroes. “People do not go to war for abstract theories of government... What Lee did in 1861, other Lees are doing in 1928 (and 2020).”
