@JasonBeck82 Very unfortunate the Hall of Fame is AOL for two months during peak season, precisely when all these INTL guests should be visiting. Projected lost revenue should have been compensation at the very least, for future curatorial development.
To answer my own question, I now think it does relate to the American location. It may have been misunderstood as Willow River Falls, written as Wool River Falls. I think that’s the best I can come up with!
Have you ever heard of the location Wool River Falls? River Falls is an extremely generic location, as well as an American location. But my only suspicion is it could refer to the Nanaimo River, and the Cowichan Valley referencing wool. And this is about a century ago.
Remember these two old houses on Hornby? The 1913 Vancouver Sun cartoonist Graham Hyde lived next door in a rooming house called the Bon Accord Hotel at 1235 Hornby, but by the following year, he was gone. The hotel survived till 1992, when it was destroyed by fire.
@CityHallWchVAN I will say 1 more counterpoint, when King George Hub developers did a late conversion from office tower to residential tower, I was very upset as it went against the benefits of a mixed use transit hub. But no one seem to speak up in opposition. Maybe it’s the same feels.
@CityHallWchVAN All right, I see more people chiming in, but are we now treating industrial zoning as the ALR? Do people recall just a few years ago when the large False Creek flat area taken over by towers was effectively a tourist bus parking lot?
I've been meaning to post a little retrospective of the old BC Tel telephone directories, so here it is. Also, it’s an appeal, I’m looking for the Peter Ewart cover, possibly 1959? https://t.co/rOWtJo9IkN
