At @udibc to hear top notch panel comprising Vancouver's Josh White, Coquitlam Andrew Merill, Burnaby's Johannes Shumann and moderator Tracey McCrae from @TheAnthemWay. "No one can live in an approval.
Hoping there will be some community support for this innovative, affordable North Vancouver project that encourages buyers to invest in a home rather than a car! https://t.co/M3nHq2s1Ho
Since both @TheCurrentCBC and @CKNW@MikeSmythNews were discussing dismal condominium markets this morning, I thought I'd offer some thoughts on what's gone wrong and what needs to be done. https://t.co/GujraoTryv
Why is the condo market dead? There's no doubt that municipal fees are adding to costs. But that's not the main reason. A key reason is that presale programs no longer make any sense. It's time for lenders to relax their requirements. Otherwise....

@rrrobbberttt@vikkhanna At the time, it was quite common for developers to pay over $200 psf for well-located rental housing sites. Today, it is difficult to make similar projects work with a land value over $100 psf.
A lot of people in the Hotel Vancouver Ballroom listening to BTY's Industry Breakfast to discuss what's happening to construction costs and other development issues.

The 2026 BC Assessments are now online. Some are up, some are down. Some are down a lot. Dunsmuir House, for which I launched a third-party appeal last year (the value tripled) came down 19%. The nearby Bay Parkade came down 26%. The Bay store came down 12%. You can check your own properties at BCAssessment. ca
I don't think the @CityofVancouver should forego more than $1 million in property taxes to create community gardens like this. Do you? https://t.co/7Pmg5hYbEK
I thought Generation Squeeze's Paul Kershaw and other young people hoping to purchase a home would appreciate this response to my latest Vancouver Sun column

Every member of council and everybody working at City Hall on the downtown east side plan should read this. Dadly they won't because like 2014 they're being hijacked by the community.
