@thecherries@SteveGrant1983 Inviting local children that don’t get the chance to come along is fine to me mate, probably behaved better than English fans anyway
@Caesarion_Novus@cyclonicwx Yeah let’s see, my guess is it’ll be completed relatively easily given the good environment. Upwelling may beginnnn to take the edge off. I think it’ll stay as a cat5 but we’ve seen the peak, may be wrong who knows!
@Caesarion_Novus@cyclonicwx It’s a shame the issues with the planes happen but it’s credit that another was in the air within an hour and still got such great data
@Weather_Earth25@AndyHazelton Still over a month away, my only reservation with Polo was that it was a little early for those previous monsters, but it didn’t matter (likely because this El Niño is a month or two ahead of schedule) so really will need to keep watch in October for more
@Caesarion_Novus@cyclonicwx I really think that first pass wasn’t far off at all. Pressure may have been a fraction lower an hour earlier but potentially with winds catching up so who knows. I think recon caught max winds and maybe 2/3mb higher than peak, not too bad
@cyclonicwx Don’t think we’ve ever seen better live obs of an EWRC, I’d argue this is more valuable than catching the ‘peak’ whenever that was. The fact it’s so clear tells me it’ll complete it without a problem and next recon tomorrow should it completed
@BenKoby1911@SELondoner@TheSnowDreamer Yep the vast majority of these are pretty standard urban environments not some conspiracy to make the ex station hotter. It’s a great site to represent the centre of London without being overly warm like one in the middle of Trafalgar Square would be
@BenKoby1911@SELondoner@TheSnowDreamer The record breaking stations this summer are all over the UK as well, LHR wasn’t a nationwide max on any of the hottest days this summer, from memory Lingwood, Kew Gardens, Yeovilton etc so it doesnt even apply to this years examples either
@BenKoby1911@TheSnowDreamer I understand your point, it may lead to an exaggerated spike on a warming trend, but it doesn’t escape the reality that these sites are representative of urban life which people of all kinds of vulnerability live in. (And rural sites are warming at the same rate anyway but nvm)
