This is a common conversation I have with many American college students:

I ask “What is your purpose in life?”

They respond with something like: “To enjoy life?”

I press them: “If you died right now, where would you go?”

Usually they answer with: “I have no idea.”

My heart breaks for the lukewarm individuals here. That’s the question so many people are quietly wrestling with.

We’ve all lied. We’ve all sinned. We’ve all fallen short. I’m not here to condemn anyone because I’m guilty too.

But, sin is the sickness: its brokenness,

We all deserve the suffering that is a consequence. Ultimately death is the consequence. But the diagnosis isn’t the end of the story.

God sent His Son Jesus, who became fully human, lived the perfect life we couldn’t live, and was crucified on the cross, bearing the punishment for our sin.

Through Him, we can have eternal life.

And maybe you don’t think you’re seeking God right now. But He is seeking you.

He does love you. He wants to give you meaning and purpose greater than “to enjoy life.” He wants you to know where you’re going when this life is over.

Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life!
