Re-reading Kazuo Ishiguro's Remains of the Day and realizing there's some books you just need to read a review of before you start; otherwise, you just don't appreciate the message as much. Ishiguro's writing is so subtle that this is especially important.
After having read it, I can say this is probably the best book to explain how ChatGPT (and LLMs) work (written by Stephen Wolfram, who excels at explaining complex topics simply, so perhaps not a surprise)
