I just wanna design cool stuff with my friends.
25yo me: I need a seat at the table & be a strategic designer, drive ROI, manage stakeholders, empathy exercise, double diamond, brainstorm HMWs, UI≠UX!!!

I wonder why OKRs devolved into project management. Maybe it's because a lot of folks are solution oriented, and it's hard to focus on results and not fall in love with the solution.
Once upon a Time, someone, perhaps Andy Grove, perhaps Peter drucker, came up with a very simple idea. What if we told people what result we wanted and trusted them to figure out how to make that result happen.
5/8: Can you share your goal metrics with someone on the team, wait 15 min, then have them repeat them back to you?
I call this the “Alignment test.” If your goal metrics are so complicated or numerous that they can't be remembered, they won't impact daily product decisions.
@johncutlefish Assuming the org has both of these roles, I believe the director sets the vision, helps to inform a high-level strategy and motivates the team around that. The managers help to build, nurture and support the team on "how" they'd work towards that vision.
@johncutlefish I actually had a convo the other day on this topic. Definitely worth discussing and would love other perspectives. I imagine it varies from org to org, but in my opinion both roles are accountable for different things... with a few overlaps...
@Nordic_Choice 20) There are threats out there, we will always have vulnerabilities, and we have values to protect.
As a provider of free & open wifi access for our guests, we try to evaluate all of those, looking at probability & impact, while also remembering UX.
@chriswho@Patton@cagan@peterme No particular reason and they could easily be on the list! That said, I wanted to keep it somewhat related to design. I used this photo as I was lazy and just took it sitting down from my desk 😁 but a majority of what's on the list is actually scattered throughout the house
“Diplomats say the North Koreans have canceled follow-up meetings, demanded more money and failed to maintain basic communications...”
🤔
“demanded more money”

Work on behalf of users, not by their request. When they bring you ideas for features, dig for the problems they’re trying to solve. Few users are experts at designing software, but most of them are very good at sharing where it hurts and why. https://t.co/DzfzwP22ZL
