UPDATE: Dr. Nayan Chakraborty (NCBS-TIFR, Bangalore) has been awarded the 2026 SynTalk Medal.

CITATION: Dr. Chakraborty is awarded this Medal for his novel interdisciplinary re-modeling, experimentation and study of the emergence of 'proto-cells' from certain specific abiotic molecules. His work itself is fecund, and could trigger conceptual resolution in a number of areas at the cusp of biology (& more). We hope that Dr. Chakraborty would continue to work creatively (with a playful disregard for disciplinary boundaries) to further our understanding of the world from a long term perspective.
