We Request “Executive Order”for🙏🏻
➡️ Immediate protection of Aging out/Aged out children, LEGALLY’ raised and educated in US.
➡️ Automatic EAD to H1B holders, who have approved I140 for more than 5 years and are still in Green card backlog @SenateDems@POTUS@SenateGOP@VP
As a US citizen, I struggle to think of a more stupid and self-sabotaging decision than the 85K/year cap on H1B visas and the 10+ year wait for green cards for most Indians. It pushes away the “cream of the crop” and perversely attracts the “middle of the road”. So many other political decisions attract 1000X more attention, and yet fixing this matters more for the long term outlook of the US economy than any other decision that politicians can make.
The bigger issue is a huge disparity between H1b and GC numbers and discriminatory country cap for GC where the country of birth has nothing to do with the skills required. Only 2,800 per yr under EB2 by law to India-born skilled professionals resulting in a 100+ year wait.
@PabloReports A big LIE coming from a “journalist” turned opinion-writer.
#EagleAct is a bill backed by millions of highly skilled, intelligent, legal migrants to the US, who have been forced to languish in a decades-long #GreenCardBacklog thanks to archaic and unfair immigration policies.
@immigrationgirl How about no lottery at all? Go by wage levels and skill set. Also, implement country caps to promote diversity and equal opportunity for all nationals.
@immigrationgirl The #H1Blottery absolutely needs to change.... to a wage level based selection.

@MandarKasture How do they decide they are genuine offers? I FTE with an Mnc and my application hasn’t been picked since two years.whereas a friend’s friend with no job n on dependent visa applied via 4 different companies and hers is picked.
@TheH1BGuy Ohh..they realized now? How about when you picked lottery thrice in FY22? They wanted free money which they earned in $$$$$$$ just by simple application. How difficult is it to filter each application just by passport no..duplicate no decline.
@Helene_d_PM @muhil_ravi This. Right here. All of this. Wake up congress, wake up @POTUS , U need to fix this circus & make it trivially easy for high performing people to stay and thrive in this country. We can work on the other aspects of immigration in parallel but this is a god damn no brainer to fix
Because nearly everything written about immigration law is about people who made it here somehow, about how to do the process, or about some recent changes in policy affecting subgroups, I think there's a serious lack of writing about why the basic rules are so impossible.
@DcWalaDesi well....for @USCISDirector , Needy Immigrants only exist at the Southern Border or with DACA, and Employment based legal immigrants who are mostly Indians and Chinese are of NO importance. This is known from her Day 1.
+Look at her failed leadership ignoring #H4EADdelays chaos.
@USCISDirector These are the available employment based visas available:
2021 - 262,288
2022 - 281,507
2023 - 197,000
A total of 740,794 visas were available but
FInal action dates of EB2 India are being retrogressed from December 2014 to October 2011. Is this fair??
@debarghya_das I have so many Indian colleagues who have been here much longer than me (and paid a ton more taxes than me) that are still on H1B, while I got my green card 2 years after graduating from college (and now US citizen). System is absurd.
This is an overlooked humanitarian crisis.
People have spent $x00,000 on education and years of their life to be here and established families. They’re 90%ile+ taxpayers.
Yet overnight, they snap their fingers and uproot 10,000+ families.

Why is it so dire?
There's way too many Indians on H-1B because of green card backlogs of 100+yrs on EB-2/3. They must renew their H-1B in 3yr stints in perpetuity.
People born in other countries, otoh, can get their GC within a few years of an H-1B.

As tech layoffs occur, companies are being placed in terrible position of having to decide whether to expose long-time employees to potential deportation if they lay them off. All because of discriminatory country caps that prevented these employees from getting green cards.
