@teachbk Except, if everything is urgent nothing is actually urgent. You've just moved the playing field, not raised it. I lived by this statement when I worked in the media industry and it was the only thing that saved my sanity.
My Monday self is always excited to eat what my Sunday self prepared. Tuesday and Wednesday are basically different people trapped in the same body who reject all prepared intentions and routines
@EricJ_Russell On Tuesdays and Wednesdays I travel between clients who all live on Dorchester Rd. I have to allow at least 30 min to go 3 miles and sometimes it isn't enough.
@Literature_Lady I'm so grateful you do this with your students!!!!
It's one of the first things I discuss with new tutoring students/ academic coaching clients.
1. How to prioritize
2. How to read, annotate, & organize information
3. How to take notes (in class & from books)
4. How to study
I recently subscribed to the #AtomicHabits email newsletter by author @JamesClear. I have not regretted reading a single one! Here's this week's: https://t.co/pvvmO8RR0v
@g0t_86d @djdempseyjones @DrJenGunter And that's the thing! So many people have lost (or didn't learn) effective compassion & empathy. Some people might have a paradigm shift from data, but they have to be able to imagine that data as actual valuable people. W/o empathy & compassion nothing changes; it gets worse.
@thepwt821 @hmntre People use the same logic to justify so many things, but PERCENTAGES DON'T MATTER WHEN YOU CONSIDER THE ACTUAL PEOPLE!!! If all people are to you (not you, but ppl who think like this) is numbers or statistics, then you're already doomed to fail protecting and supporting people
@BrookieS I take a LOT of late afternoon or evening naps so that I can get work done at night. A sleep doctor once told me that as long as you get six consecutive hours AND you reach REM during at least one nap, I don't absolutely have to try for 8hrs of sleep at a time.
@Redwinenbooks@MrGordian@_Quetzy_ I've wondered if that was publicized so heavily alongside the Jan 6 coverage to distract us. Not saying ppl shouldn't care about either of those things. Saying that I often wonder what we're being intentionally distracted from.
