A big day for all involved with @actuallyeducic exactly one year on from our very first project meeting. It's been a much longer and harder journey to secure funding than I envisioned but we're starting to make progress now so we can start our external work π
Shocking but not surprising based on everything I've learnt since delving into the autistic online community two years ago. We need change now. Please sign the petition. If you/your child has been affected, then please complete the survey. Links in the tweet and comments below.
So far with my son being turned down for mental health care from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services due to his autism diagnosis, & me subsequently creating a petition with change. org calling them out on it that's just hit 187k; I also worked with @Change on a survey +
@PaulaMc007 Used to have one in our old house, quite interesting to see underlying rate of usage and what sparks up the dial. I'd get again, just hassle arranging install visit so not got round to yet. Probably more important now prices have rocketed
This was shared to me by @ReachoutASC and @ADHDFoundation
Let's all keep spreading the word that though there can be challenges conditions such as #ADHD present, esp. living in a neurotypical designed society, reasonable adjustments & expectations all round = win:win π
Want to know the real impact of tonight's ridiculous shenanigans read today's update on this petition π and sign if you're so inclined

This is why I find it increasingly hard to explain to my children why they need to go to school and learn the things on the curriculum. I value many things that education in schools has to offer but we are missing a real opportunity to make it a much richer, inclusive experience
How do children find new things to learn? I'm sometimes asked if I don't worry that self-directed children will miss out on important learning. Here's why my worry is more for children who are at school. 1/ (with @_MissingTheMark)
Here's today's commission. Back in the dog game with this happy chappy! If you'd like your dog (or cat) drawing then don't hesitate to get in touch. You can see more here: https://t.co/0CUIlSbHX5
@mrdanwalker Ouch, hope you get seen soon. If it's anything like ambulance response times experienced recently (40 minutes instead of 8 target) I imagine could be longer than 4 hours π€π€
@SENDconsultant Like this apart from not being different. We don't need to deny difference, we should celebrate differences (though acknowledge we are all human beings deserving of equitable treatment)
@fatherhoodninja Maybe because there is time to be socialised. I despair that primary school age is so focused on 'catching up' and rule following that there is little scope for socialisation to occur in mainstream schools π’
Sounds like an interesting panel discussion π

We sat down as a Director group last year to decide our values. This was really important for us early on as it has meant that they have informed all our work to date. What does #aspirational mean to you?
