Note this, rightly, says nothing about urgent same day problems.
General Practice is not an emergency service nor should its capacity be wasted on large volumes of minor illness.
Yet here we are with a contract forcing is away from the patients that truly NEED us.
1/2 I have a small Angela Rayner personal anecdote...
When I was struggling with how elitist Westminster was when I first started in the lobby, she gave me an important pep talk on how we can't let privileged people make us feel like we don't belong in these spaces
URGENT! Pls share. The last chance to register to vote in the General Election is 11.59pm tomorrow Tue 18 June. Potentially 8m aren't registered at their current address. Here's 4 key facts...
1) You can do it online here https://t.co/i4FhJoAXfK
2) It's good for your finances. Not being on electoral roll can make it more difficult to be accepted for credit products like bank accounts or mortgages.
3) You can opt out of the 'Open Register' (which allows your info to be sold on) which will stop you getting junk mail marketing )
4) You'll need ID when you do vote (not to register) if you don't have it, you can get it free until Wed 26 June https://t.co/9bfL3hw3CV
Some people think the highest rate of income tax should be 20%. Some people think it should be 60%.
Of course nobody thinks the highest rate should be 62%, but only on people earning £100-125k. That would be mad.
But that's the tax system we have:
Patients can’t get to see a GP for weeks or months
We have 2000 less GPs than 10 years ago
Yet 4,000 newly qualified GPs struggling to find work.
Existing GPs losing their jobs.
Can anyone still tell me this is in public/patient interest?
AVERAGE COST OF APPOINTMENT TO THE NHS
Pharmacy First - £40
ARRS - £35
GP - £23
Which ones do the Government & NHSE support? Which one is more needed & safer for patient care?
GPs are leaving, one at a time, then teams, then contracts handed back
Blame MPs not GPs
Can anyone give me a sensible answer as to why ARRS funding allocated to practices to address the “GP shortage”allows them to ONLY employ people …..who are NOT a GP?!
Make it make sense.
“Dr Benn’s actions and her resulting custodial sentence posed no threat to patients, but her suspension implies they do.”
The BMA's @DrLatifaPatel says today's @gmcuk ruling sends a 'worrying' message to doctors.

Horrifying.
I’m simply staggered that @gmcuk & @NHSEngland are endorsing such a grossly dangerous state of affairs for patients.
Substituting PAs for qualified doctors to assess gravely unwell neurosurgical patients?
It’s absolutely terrifying, as this case demonstrates.
GPC England deputy chair @DavidGWrigley speaking this morning about the GP unemployment crisis and the Government's refusal to provide general practice with the flexibility needed to recruit more GPs.
Last year when @RCollEM exposed the scale of deaths associated with long waits we were gaslit by NHSE who questioned the data without providing credible reasons. It has stood up to scrutiny. This reestimate is conservative, and scandalous https://t.co/nQbEV91rop 1/2

So many unhappy GPs in here with the consequences of ARRS funding / PA expansion…
Yet there seems to be very little action / comment from RCGP.
Are GP members lobbying the RCGP?
Update: look who else is sponsoring the RCGP conference?
You can’t make this shit up.
The company associated with disgraced ex President of PAs (the one who didn’t disclose COI).
It’s like the Oncologists getting Benson and Hedges to sponsor them.
