Personally, I think you can be overstimulated in BPD. The intensity of emotions and quick sudden highs and lows can definitely be overstimulating. Handling splitting which can be hard to rationalize and handling intrusive thoughts of abandonment regularly is very overwhelming too
A lot of bpd symptoms are based in overthinking (fear of abandonment, paranoia, black and white thinking, splitting). Communication that is honest and often can help remedy or lessen these symptoms. Don't assume that your loved one with bpd knows/understands what youre thinking
traits of bpd that aren’t talked about as often:
- paranoia
- hallucinations
- age regression (childlike behaviour)
- outbursts of rage
- feeling threatened by new people
- having no idea who you are
- being obsessive (until you get bored and something new comes long)
