This photo is the last time I got to see my grandfather.

A year or two before this photo was taken I called him and said, "Grandpa, you've always told me some great stories over the years, I'd love to hear some more.

My Grandfather was a storyteller and his stories had a big impact on me. So much so that I made a short film called Lessons from Grandpa about three stories he told me. I regret not hearing more of his stories but carrying that regret around has never helped me.

J.K. Simmons played a near psychopath in this film but surprisingly his intentions were good, or so he claimed. This movie and quote, for one reason or another, inspires me to do my best.

This line has stuck with me ever since hearing it from my favorite movie, Whiplash.

I don't agree with it, I think people should be given praise for their good doings, especially children.

I do like the idea the quote inspires, which could be said to be the central focus of the film.

Do your absolute best, no matter what gets in your way. Don't let anything stop you from achieving your goals. Adversity can get you where you want to be, you can't give up.

No one’s saying you can’t use the handshake—I still use it. It’s a universal form of communication. However, incorporating pattern interrupts and exploring other aspects of attorneys, doctors, or any professional helps foster deeper, more authentic connections.

A thread on handshakes: an over used visual in law firm marketing? Now, I can’t say I’ve never used it. Of course I have—I’m a videographer. But lately, I’ve tried to break out of the "handshake box." Here are a few approaches I’ve taken when filming attorneys:
