@KThomasCES would evaluate each other's writing for that one aspect as well. Once they mastered that skill, I would add another element to focus on. Building the students' knowledge bases of what to look for really paid off in seeing them apply it by themselves later on.

@KThomasCES I had success with really focusing on only a few types of feedback at a time and explicitly teaching the skills by modeling/annotating a piece of writing as a whole class. If I wanted them to focus on vivid word choice, we would work together to jazz up bland examples then they
