@n_fiction@RoguePOTUSStaff Isn't it relevant what, about the situation, they were fearful of? Saying that they were young and full of adrenaline is not helpful toward justifying his use of deadly force. It implies they were fundamentally incapable, in that moment, to prudently choose a level of force.
@n_fiction@RoguePOTUSStaff And, what we can see to have been the officers' perspective when he fired was the man's bare back while he's on his knees, pepper-sprayed, with no discernable weapon and no hold on, or reach to any other person as if able or wanting to inflict harm.
@n_fiction@RoguePOTUSStaff Slow motion helps to compensate for less advantageous angle of view, camera instability and terrible resolution when compared to the officer's firsthand, in-person experience of the event so we can all get a better understanding of what they were dealing with.
@mmpadellan By Trump and admin's description of the Alex Pretti (domestic terrorist gunman brandishing semiautomatic weapon with intent to massacre law enforcement, if Rittenhouse were there in Minneapolis with his AR, he would've been right to shoot Pretti himself before ICE got to him.
PETER DOOCY: "You talked about how you hoped to end the war in Ukraine because it might help you get into heaven. How does this help? Does this help?"
PRESIDENT TRUMP: "You know, I'm being a little cute โ I don't think there's anything going to get me in heaven."
@MiladHeat @snatchback_3 @hoodg3nius It was not until July of this year that DOJ and FBI released a memo stating that a review of the evidence in the Epstein investigation "uncovered no incriminating client list". This established that no further criminal investigations should prevent release of the files.
@roanokegamecock@travisakers@pulte "give adults options and let them make decisions"
Economic policy isn't that simple. Giving adults options seems like choice in good times. But in bad times they're forced to accept terrible options in trying to keep up.
And bad times will happen over 30 years...
@roanokegamecock@travisakers@pulte Sometimes it can make sense for some people. But on the whole, it's inflationary. It's a transition away from "building" equity toward "inflating" home values. And eventually, even homes on 50yr loans become unaffordable.
What then? 70yr mortgages?
@roanokegamecock@travisakers@pulte You're not building as much equity when you're paying so much more in interest.
And if nothing is done to address the fundamental causes of runaway housing affordability, it'll just be a matter of time before some other stable genius floats the idea of 70-year mortgages...
Trump's 50-Year mortgage reminds me of 2007 when the idea for addressing then-unsustainable rise in home prices was to have 45-year mortgages...
It never came to fruition but it proved politicians were out of good ideas and the Great Recession was inevitable.
@red_scarf_media@RyanAFournier The leverage will evaporate to whatever extent SCOTUS rules that his tariffs are unlawful.
I fact, it's not hard to imagine that some countries will be more emboldened to push back in whatever negotiations they have with him...like dealing with a gunman who's out of bullets.
