The thing is it's not just Ireland that should be shamed for this. Under ICC rules having a functioning women's team is a requirement for membership of the ICC. As Afg have totally ignored this rule they should be expelled and nobody should play them. And no its not islamophobia or any other card you chose to play to say this. UAE, Qatar, Saudi, Malaysia and every other Islamic nation in the ICC have women's teams. Afghanistan are happy to take the funding provided for their women's team however.

nah I am just pointing out the inaccuracy of your orginal post, no event happens in isolation, it can and should be argued that the aftermath of the 1916 uprising and the arrests and executions that followed played a far bigger part in the creation of the treaty of independence, and the Irish free state, Even the Dail was created in 1918 after the election wins that year following the 16 uprising retaliations. The UK govt paid far more attention to the international response to this than it did to the ongoing civil disobedience and guerilla warfare which it viewed as just a continuation of 100's years of the same, whilst it was unlikely to win this war on the ground it was unlikely to loose it either. The only real success's of the 1920 - 22 'war' was the intelligence and assassination program lead by Michael Collins.
