Greg explains the problem with negative gearing in 60 seconds:
"It is a tax minimisation scheme disguised as a housing policy, most of the benefits go to the wealthiest and it massively distorts housing prices."

Here’s the thing folks. I’ve been coding 32 years. When something like this happens it’s an organizational failure. Yes, some human wrote a bad line. Someone can “git blame” and point to a human and it’s awful. But it’s the testing, the Cl/CD, the A/B testing, the metered rollouts, an oh shit button to roll it back, the code coverage, the static analysis tools, the code reviews, the organizational health, and on and on. It’s always one line of code but it’s NEVER one person. Implying inclusion policies caused a bug is simplistic, reductive, and racist. Engineering is a team sport. Inclusion makes for good teams. Good engineering practices makes for good software. Engineering practices failed to find a bug multiple times, regardless of the seniority of the human who checked that code in. Solving the larger system thinking SDLC matters more than the null pointer check. This isn’t a “git gud C++ is hard” issue and it damn well isn’t an DEI one.
@pelicanboy1 Noticed the same thing. Extremely dodgy - surely a change like this is worthy of an explicit communication rather than hiding at the bottom of a 10 page statement.
The payment date for my next monthly #CBA credit card bill is only 2 weeks after the last one was due! Now found this notice buried at the bottom of my April CBA credit card statement reducing interest free period by 11 days.

When you purchase a property, you take away society’s access to that land.
That property’s value will increase not necessarily through anything inherently associated with that property, but based on investment by others to the area over time - like roads and infrastructure, as well as investment by individuals in the form of culture, art and food.
A property owner effectively privatises this increase in value, and never has to give any increase in value back to society. They benefit by the socialisation of the increase in value, but again, they privatise this value.
A land value tax is a way to give back some of the value of the increase to the people (or state) that actually did the work in increasing the value.
As a final note, this land was never ours to begin with.
Imagine a tech conference having no CFP, as they reach out to speakers directly. They successfully attract some of the most heavy hitter men speakers in tech, and 3 women speakers.
Now imagine my surprise that 2 of those women are FAKE profiles.
They do not exist.
Nada.
@PeterDutton_MP@chrisluxonmp You're not in government, you delusional lump of panna cotta.
In fact, the greatest thing to come out of tonight is knowing your deplorable countenance will never become Prime Minister.
You will never lead this nation.
Never.
You've lost in every way.

I just learned that Jeff Kennett split the running of Melbourne’s train network between competing companies to ‘encourage competition’. Did that guy’s brain work? People catch whatever train is closest to their home, how would competition help?
The best salespeople close deals and their compensation is based on the amount closed (==value generated), and not based on how many emails they sent within the year.
There’s a lesson here as we think of how important # of pull requests, lines of codes etc are for developers.
