That way they ensure that something is built, and they also capture the value of what is built, and in 50 years they can decide what to do with the value that they created!

@dandolfa Isn’t sovereign debt an asset for the non-government sector? Perhaps debt (assets to the non-government sector) are issued in proportion to the ability of the economy to create real goods and services (aka “power”).

@finickus @UrbanCourtyard I see here in France that more buildings of a smaller size and narrower street frontage means more building owners. So if one building falls into disrepair, for example a financially weak landlord, the other buildings can still preserve the streetscape.

@ThomasG43512635 @Jordan_W_Taylor @Object_Zero_ These turbine blades in the photo must be for ground or naval applications, no? Aviation certification requires that the manufacturer prove that the blades are equivalent to the OEM blade, which is not cheap to demonstrate.

Death rates from building fires are lower here in France than they are in the States. It’s used throughout Europe and it makes for comfortable and safe apts.

@MonetaryWonk And when the Fed buys Treasury securities it does not cause spending like the OP described. The holders of Treasury bonds can ALWAYS spend by selling their bonds in the liquid secondary market or posting the bonds as collateral for a loan (that they will spend).

@MonetaryWonk The Fed also pays interest on reserve balances, which is income for the banks in the banking system.
