Here’s the thing:

Reimbursement means you paid for something and the individual responsible is going to pay you back what’s already yours.

At our little company, we pay physicians and medical professionals for the services they render.

Instead of an MBA, I’d love to see physicians understand benefits.

It’s that or benefits consultants learn medicine and that’s not happening.

No one grows up dreaming of being a benefits consultant.

I read tweets daily about “insurance”.

If we called a disease the incorrect name or placed the incorrect numbers into an equation, our results will draw the with the incorrect conclusions.

Insurance is really healthcare benefits and there are 5 primary components that are key to understand should we desire to disrupt HC.

Medicaid
Medicare
Commercial - fully insured.
Commercial - self-insured
Cash pay

While doctors are typically well-compensated, most choose the medical profession for reasons beyond financial gain.

Here are 3 why doctors do not do it for the money:

Desire to help others: Many people are drawn to the medical profession because of a desire to help others.

The opportunity to improve the health and well-being of others can be a powerful motivator, and for some doctors, it is the primary reason they chose to enter the field.

Personal fulfillment: For some doctors, the work itself is fulfilling and rewarding, regardless of the financial compensation. The ability to make a difference in people's lives and the intellectual challenge of diagnosing and treating complex medical problems can be deeply satisfying.

Long-term job security: Although the cost of medical school can be high, once doctors complete their training, they typically have a high level of job security. In addition, there is often a high demand for medical professionals, which means that doctors may not need to worry as much about job stability as people in other professions.

This can make the financial sacrifices required to become a doctor more palatable for those who value job security.

@Dr_Eckley @UberPT On that note, if a pt sees an MD in a hospital system and is then referred to their inhouse PT, since the hospitals have a much higher negotiated rate, pts will have to spend much more money per visit had they gone to a private practice. But they're not typically told that.
